Mentor gatherings at Operation Oasis - Aftercare Program will provide
refreshments, speaker or an activity. If you know of anyone that
you think would be a good speaker. Please call Juanita Lee at (972)437-3801.

Mentor Profile
Some desirable qualities of a mentor include the following:
1. Men who model Christian character and stability in the areas
of:
Strong attachments to Christ, family and community
Commitment to educational and work goals
Job stability
2. Motivation:
A desire to work in out-reach ministry
Have a basic awareness of the problem of men returning to prison
at a very high rate
A desire to see and make a difference in the life of an ex-offender
and his family
3. Availability:
The Mentor must have sufficient available time to support the
client without detracting form his own family or church responsibility
4. Personal Attributes:
Someone who is not easily manipulated
Someone who has demonstrated responsibility in a church setting
Someone who is willing to learn and views this project as
and opportunity to gain experience
5. Suggested minimum age--30 years
6. Gender - must be male
7. Professional training is not necessary, but may be
helpful
8. Prior history of incarceration and/or substance
abuse.
